TEMPORARILY OUT OF ORDER BY PATRICK REDFORD // MAGIC REVIEW

WHERE TO BUY:

AVAILABLE AT YOUR FAVOURITE MURPHY'S MAGIC DEALER

EFFECT:

Temporarily Out of Order is focused on memorized deck magic and stack work. It reintroduces The Redford Stack to the world and explores its many possible transformative features. The Redford Stack may be easily arranged from either a shuffled deck or a freshly opened pack of cards. It also transforms into a Parallel Stack, Stay Stack/Mirror stack, Si-Stebbins Stack, an alternating red-black stack, and more. Amazingly, the exact same sequence that sets into Si Stebbins returns the deck to the Redford Stack! The stack appears random and yet is packed full of features. There are poker deals, blackjack deals, spelling effects, coincidence effects, faro effects, and much more. You'll learn a few of Patrick's favorite false shuffles, false cuts, and two sneaky deck switches! You'll also learn a handful of tricks that can be done while secretly setting up a borrowed deck into a stack! Many of the effects presented won't require the user to memorize the Redford order. This will allow it to be put to use immediately. In addition, there are many effects presented that aren't dependent on a specific memorized stack order, and may be performed with any memorized arrangement! "Patrick has pushed stack work to a different level. I love what he's done with the pseudo-memorized and the memorized deck." - Bob Cassidy "Patrick fooled the crap out of me." - Tom Gagnon "I love the idea of a stack that you go in and out of. Bloody Genius! Only Patrick could create such a thing in such a practical way!" - Ken Dyne "Patrick has devised another beautifully constructed and truly deceptive set of routines surrounded by a wealth of knowledge. The title effect, 'Temporarily Out of Order,' is a reputation-making marathon of impossible moments. His work on the methods within this book are worth studying." - Ben Seidman "Loved it. The title effect, Temporarily Out of Order, is one of the best card tricks I have ever seen." - Jon Armstrong "Temporarily Out of Order is filled with gold." - Mike Powers

REVIEW:

PROS:

- This book includes everything you need to know about the Redford stack. It shows you how to go from Si Stebbins stack to the Redford stack, how to go from a shuffled deck into a Redford Stack and so many more key points to the Redford stack. There is literally no stone left unturned in terms of the Redford Stack. It is also accompanied by some nice big pictures of the order of the Redford Stack which was a really nice visualisation for me. It also contains easy ways to remember the Redford Stack, it is a full complete guide to the Redford Stack, as I said before, no stone is left unturned.

- The book is very nicely made. It is fairly big in terms of size. It is a hardcover book and the pages are very nicely printed. This shows the passion Patrick has for his product.

- The signature effect "Temporarily Out Of Order" is phenomenal! I don't normally do tricks where you divide the deck into piles and all that sort of stuff because it seems too convoluted and somethung that your granddad would teach you. This is the ONLY exception. This effect/routine is incredible. It's set up in such a way that there's a killer moment of magic after another and every time it just gets more and more impossible. It is SERIOUSLY good.

- Another effect I really liked is Twain. It's a really strong effect involving two spectators and looks totally impossible to the spectator.

- Another one of my favourite effects was "What's the Catch". This is where a spectator names a card and you dribble the cards and reach in and catch the card that they named. It uses an additional gimmick which is extremely easy to make and the book shows what it is and how it works so you can easily make it yourself. I really loved this effect as it's very direct and straightforward.

- I also really like the gambling demonstrations. This was something I initially overlooked but there's some really good stuff in this section.

- All the other tricks are VERY good. I don't think there's any "filler" material. It's all very useable effects.

- This is the first time where I think the price is too low. For the information in the book and the quality of the book, they should be charging more than $60.

CONS:

- I can really only think of one negative of this book which is that there's a couple of other effects where you deal cards into a pile (excluding Temporarily Out Of Order) although they were very good, I personally would never do them as I said before, it looks too much like something your granddad taught you. But if you don't mind dealing piles then the effects are REALLY good.

RATING:

9.5/10
